Buddha, Pixar, Linkedin, and storytelling
Hi, troublemakers! 👋
Here’s an impactful quote I’ve highlighted this week, along with a thought for you to reflect this weekend.
Take care and unwind!

Dean Movshovitz on storytelling:
“Once you have a strong idea for a movie, your next step should be getting to know your lead characters. No matter what your story is, the events that construct it are happening to someone. And that someone better be interesting and, more importantly, must care about what is happening to and around them.”

Before going deeper, let’s translate the quote to our startups reality and replace:
‘movie’ with our business venture
’lead characters’ with clients , but also founders
Works well, right?
1 Thought
Zero-to-one founders must accept that stories are everything. You can’t shape new realities or create the future without a great story.
Just look at the most successful public figures; their personalities, and how they talk about their agendas, visions, and products: Buddha, Martin L. King, Steve Jobs, Oprah, Richard Branson, Elon Musk, and countless other skilled storytellers.
Lessons learned:
Since integrating my personal background in public communication into my work, I’ve observed a significant surge in interest towards both myself and my company.
“I want to tell a story…” is an effective framework to start a presentation, Linkedin post, etc.
Three books on storytelling that I find particularly valuable are: Made to Stick, Contagious: Why Things Catch On, and “Pixar Storytelling” mentioned above.
